Maite at a few months of life, developed a strange Leigh syndrome, which is a mitochondrial neurodegenerative disease and within the diagnoses associated with it are: severe psychomotor developmental delay, bilateral pyramidal syndrome, epilepsy, West syndrome, visual deficit, tracheotomy, swallowing disorder, among others, which keep her in a state of severe and absolute dependence. Today she is 4 years old and although there is no specific curative treatment, she requires follow-up and care from a multidisciplinary team.
